Les Romo

Director

Les Romo practices law in Georgetown, TX, and has over forty years of experience representing clients in all areas of probate and non-profit legal matters in both jury and non-jury trials in state and federal courts. Mr. Romo has been General Counsel for municipal utility districts, water supply corporations, investor owned utilities, and for nonprofit organizations. He assisted the board of directors with compliance with applicable state and local laws and regulations. Prior to opening his own law firm, Mr. Romo was an Assistant Attorney General in the Texas Office of the Attorney General, Environmental Protection Division. He represented the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Texas Department of Health, as well as other state regulatory agencies in federal, state, and state administrative proceedings.

Mr. Romo is admitted to practice in all state courts in the State of Texas and in the United States District
Courts of the Western and Northern Districts of Texas. Mr. Romo received his mediation certificate
from the State of Texas on October 16, 1994.

Dick Geoffroy

John Roiko

Treasurer

John Roiko provides an impressive background with 40+ years of increasing financial responsibility and extensive board experience. As Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer at NI (formerly National Instruments Corporation, a $5B market cap multinational, instrumentation company that manufacturers hardware and develops software for test, measurement, and industrial automation applications). John played an integral role in positioning the company for extraordinary 5X growth; from $274M to generating over $1.3B annually and improving Net Income 96% over the last five years.

Responsible for the strategy and execution of NI’s worldwide finance operations, he played a key role in transforming the financial organization across the globe to support the growing complexity of NI system-level business and in expanding the company’s manufacturing operations in Europe and Asia. During this time, he also played a crucial role on the investor relations team and managed worldwide facilities.

Over the years, he served on the board of directors for six of the company’s international operations across the Americas, APAC, and EMEA, where he ensured utmost compliance and financial reporting accuracy, while overseeing the governance, culture, and management of the Audit Committee, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee, and 401K committee; assisting them in carrying out their functions.

Prior to joining NI,  Roiko served as Controller for the defense division at Honeywell before moving to Emerson Process Management as North America Accounting Manager where he led the financial integration of a major acquisition. He then pursued start-up opportunities for a couple of companies in Austin before joining NI in 1998 as NI’s Worldwide Corporate Controller. He was later appointed Vice President of Finance in 2008 and Chief Accounting Officer in 2018.

Roiko served on the advisory board for the Salvation Army and has enjoyed volunteering as a youth baseball coach and mentor for his church youth groups. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in accounting from St. Cloud State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Minnesota State University.

Gary Kersch

Director

Mr. Gary Kersch is the Chief Executive Officer of a real estate development corporation which developed approximately $12.9 million in Texas real property. His background as an affordable housing CPA, auditor, consultant and problem-solver enhances his experience in developing, owning and managing affordable apartments.

Natalie Archambo

Director

Ms. Archambo is a clinical research associate at a medical device startup. She obtained a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Samuel Merritt University. She practiced as a PA at Stanford Health Care in orthopedic spine surgery for almost five years. Ms. Archambo is originally from Phoenix, AZ.

Javier Valdez

Tanya Birks

Vice President

Ms. Tanya Birks is a native of Texas, born in Houston, but enjoying living and working in Austin. Ms. Birks serves as the Vice President of PLANCTX and works on grant writing, fundraising and member recruitment for the organization. She is involved in several nonprofit organizations in Austin and is always seeking new ways to contribute to the community. Currently, she is the Director of Real Estate for Austin ISD where she is responsible for the professional direction and strategic leadership of the district’s long-term real estate portfolio and long-term facilities master plan. In her spare time, she enjoys learning piano, working towards fluency in Spanish, traveling to beach locales and lounging with her Frenchie named Raegan.

Natalia Leon, MPH

Secretary

Ms. Leon has a Master of Public Health from Texas A&M University System Health Science Center and a Bachelor of Speech Communication from St. Mary’s University. She has several years of experience working as a Data Analyst, and currently is a Research Specialist for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

Anita Garner

Director

Ms. Garner is a retired Medical Case Manager and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. She has worked in many rehabilitation settings assisting those with disabilities including people who have mental illness. She advocates for those who need services in order to assist them improve their lives and maintain wellness. Ms. Garner has served on the PLANCTX Board in various positions over the years including  Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President. Ms. Garner has ties to PLAN of North Texas as her sister is a long standing member and her mother served on the Board there for many years.
